Jayn Simpson
Brought up in a very creative household, Jayn has been inspired by her mother; a strong willed, independent woman with a natural talent for drawing, painting and creating luxurious hand made clothing. During her spare time, Jayn can be found rock climbing, salsa dancing, exploring antique markets in the countryside or practicing Bikram yoga. Jayn adds her signature touch with a modern twist to create the highly anticipated line.
In 2000, Jayn Simpson obtained her degree from the fashion design program at the Blanche Macdonald Centre for Applied Design in Vancouver, British Columbia. Upon graduating, she was presented with the Artistic Achievement Award for Design and Illustration. In 2002, Jayn returned to Ottawa and launched her first line. It was immediately bought by the prestigious Justine’s – a boutique on Sussex Drive known for its’ collections of exclusive high-end designer labels. Since then, Jayn has gone on to design high-end women’s suiting, cocktail and evening wear collections. She has sold her pieces to high end retailers such as; The Oyster in Burlington, Blush in West Vancouver and Ritché in Toronto. In July 2005, the first Jayn Simpson Boutique was opened in the prestigious Yorkville district of Toronto, where Jayn began designing custom bridal wear, in addition to suiting and evening wear lines.
In just 5 years, high end designer Jayn Simpson has risen to the top of the Canadian fashion scene. Chosen by a juried panel of judges to represent Canadian fashion in 2005, 2006 and 2007 at one the world's most recognized fashion events, L'Oreal Fashion Week in Toronto, Jayn has been recognized and has received outstanding reviews from prestigious media outlets such as The National Post, Ottawa Citizen, Canadian Jewish News, Toronto Sun and Sweetspot.ca. She was also invited to appear on several Breakfast Television shows to promote her collections. Furthermore, Jayn designed a couture suit for Maria Topolovich, President of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, to wear to the 2006 Genie Awards. The same year, Jayn designed and donated a couture evening suit to celebrate the launch of the breast cancer commemorative quarter. Since launching her first line, Jayn’s couture pieces and collections have been showcased at several charity events.
